SOF is committed to ensuring that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy.
In spite of the determined and concerted efforts aimed at attaining a high literacy level in Nigeria, illiteracy has remained a daunting and herculean problem in many parts of the country and this “might likely hinder the realization of the Sustainable Development Goal, SDG Target 4.6.
In line with SDG Target 4.6: SOF is committed to ensuring that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy. SOF aims to complement Government’s efforts at all levels in the provision of functional Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education and Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces.
The aim is that by 2030, many young people and adults across states should have achieved relevant and recognized proficiency levels in functional literacy and numeracy skills that are equivalent to levels achieved at the successful completion of basic education, financial literacy and entrepreneurship courses.
