About ASIS
Our mission is to transform our continent through sustainable solutions that drive social equality, impact investment in new and inclusive ideas and policy changes for stronger development.
The Africa Social Impact Summit was initiated to serve as a call for effective collaboration by all players in Africa’s development sector including government, civil society organisations, the private sector, and the development community to ensure an all-inclusive achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all” and Agenda 2063.
The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to take a toll on African lives and has pushed up to 40 million people into extreme poverty according to the World Bank. Women, youth, low skill labor and those in the informal sector remain most affected by lack of access to social safety nets and income opportunities. These economic imbalances have taken us further backwards in our journey towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. This alongside the projection by the World Bank that Africa will be home to over 50 percent of the world’s poorest people by 2030 sets the tone and need for conscious investments and a clear roadmap to achieving the SDGs.
The Africa Social Impact Summit births against this backdrop as a global convening for effective collaboration and alignment by critical players in Africa’s social development sector including state and non-state actors – social entrepreneurs, local and international impact investors, private sector and the government to facilitate the all-inclusive achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 with priority focus on Education, Climate Solutions, Circular Economy, Health, Renewable Energy, Agriculture and WASH.
It’s time for stakeholders, especially corporate executives to focus on a new business future that prioritizes building back, social equality, access to basic social services and impact investments that accelerate poverty reduction in all its forms. This decade’s transition is the largest investment opportunity in history and our renewed desire for a better future will only be achieved if business and government seize the opportunity and lead actions across the continent to achieve our goals. It’s time we move beyond setting goals and move to enacting strategies that deliver the results of change and progress. We need new pervasive definitive actions that create long-term value for business, its stakeholders and the wider society.
The Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) holds as the largest in-person gathering of social impact leaders in Africa and will convene 2,000+ business, policy, investment and sustainability leaders, who are driving real change, to share new strategies and solutions on how business can innovate, invest and collaborate with government and civil society to lead a new economic future for the continent. Join us on August 09-10, 2023 as we convene strategic discussions to ensure sustainable and effective action and leadership in 2023 and beyond.
