Youth Agro-Development Program (SOF-YAD)

About 70% of agricultural produce are cultivated in rural communities by (ageing) smallholder farmers. Older farmers are less likely to adopt the new technologies needed to sustainably increase agricultural productivity, and ultimately, feed the growing population while protecting the environment. Hence, the youth need to be re-engaged to go into agriculture.

SOF –YAD is created to unleash the capacity of young women and men to effectively participate in the modernization of the agricultural sector as this is imperative for enhanced resilience, improved food security and poverty reduction.
